Software systems built for the way your business actually works.

Wojo Studios designs, builds, integrates, and improves software for complex operational problems — the manual processes, disconnected systems, and fragile applications that off-the-shelf tools never quite fix.

A founder-led engineering consultancy. Senior work, no hand-offs.

The problems we solve

Most software problems are really operations problems.

The businesses that call us rarely need “an app.” They need a process that stops breaking, systems that finally talk to each other, or software they can change without holding their breath. If any of this sounds familiar, we should talk.

  • Manual work that never ends

Someone re-keys the same data into three systems every day. It works — until they take a vacation, or the volume doubles.

  • Systems that don’t talk to each other

Your CRM, accounting platform, and operations tools each hold part of the truth. Reconciling them by spreadsheet has become a job in itself.

  • Internal tools nobody dares to touch

An application the business depends on daily, built years ago, thinly documented, and one bad deploy away from a very hard week.

  • Data trapped in other people’s platforms

The numbers you need live behind vendor portals, exports, and APIs that were never designed to work together.

  • Automations that quietly fail

Scripts and integrations that were fine at first, but now fail silently, need babysitting, or nobody remembers how they work.

  • An MVP that isn’t ready for real users

The prototype proved the idea. Now it needs error handling, tests, security, and an architecture that can survive production.

  • Architecture that resists change

Every new feature takes longer than the last one. Small changes ripple into places nobody expects. Estimates have stopped meaning anything.

  • Knowledge that lives in one person’s head

One employee knows how the critical system actually works. That is not a documentation problem — it is a business risk.

Services

Engineering across the whole problem — not just the ticket.

Every engagement starts with understanding what the business is actually trying to do. From there, we design and build the smallest reliable system that does it — and we stay accountable for making it work in production.

Custom Software Development

Internal platforms, business applications, APIs, and workflow systems built around how your operation actually runs — not how an off-the-shelf tool assumes it does.

  • Internal and administrative platforms
  • Business applications and operational workflows
  • API design and development

Architecture & Technical Design

System design and architecture reviews that favor durability over novelty. We plan for the change you will need in two years, not just the demo next month.

  • System and data architecture
  • Modernization and migration planning
  • Scalability, reliability, and maintainability reviews

Integrations & Automation

Connecting the systems your business already depends on — APIs, webhooks, OAuth, vendor platforms — and automating the manual steps in between, with failure handling that assumes things will go wrong.

  • Third-party API and OAuth integrations
  • Data synchronization between platforms
  • Browser and process automation

Application Review & Production Hardening

An honest assessment of an existing codebase: what is solid, what is fragile, and what it takes to run it in production with confidence. Then a concrete plan — or the remediation itself.

  • Codebase and security assessment
  • Test strategy and deployment readiness
  • Remediation planning and execution

Data & Operational Systems

Pipelines, databases, and reporting that give the business one version of the truth — built to ingest messy real-world data without falling over.

  • Data pipelines and ingestion processes
  • SQL systems and reporting workflows
  • Operational dashboards

AI & Agentic Workflows

Practical applications of AI where it genuinely earns its place: document processing, workflow augmentation, and agent-driven systems — always with human review where the stakes require it.

  • AI-assisted document and data processing
  • Agent orchestration and LLM integrations
  • Human-in-the-loop automation

How we work

A process built for problems that start out unclear.

Most of our engagements begin before the problem is fully defined. The process is collaborative — you bring the business knowledge, we bring the engineering — but you should never have to manage the technical details yourself.

  1. Understand

We learn how the business process actually works — current systems, constraints, risks, and what you are genuinely trying to achieve. Often this differs from the original request, and that is fine.

  2. Define

We turn the ambiguity into a written problem statement, a technical approach, and a delivery plan you can hold us to. You will know what is being built, why, and in what order.

  3. Design

Architecture, interfaces, data model, integration strategy, and testing approach — decided deliberately, before they become expensive to change.

  4. Build

Iterative implementation with visible progress. Maintainable code, active risk management, and no long silences followed by a big reveal.

  5. Validate

We test the functionality, the failure modes, the integrations, and the deployment — because a system that only works on the happy path does not actually work.

  6. Improve

Rollout support, documentation, knowledge transfer, and monitoring. The goal is a system your team understands and owns — not a dependency on us.

Why Wojo Studios

Small by design. Senior by default.

Wojo Studios is a founder-led consultancy. There is no hand-off from the person who sold the work to the person who does it — the engineer who scopes your problem is the one who solves it.

Senior thinking from day one

You are not paying for a discovery phase that a junior team learns on. Architecture and implementation are handled together, by someone who has done both for a long time.

Ownership of ambiguous problems

We are comfortable being handed a problem, not a specification. Investigating systems that are undocumented, half-broken, or politically complicated is a normal Tuesday.

Practical over impressive

The right solution is usually simpler than the exciting one. We will tell you when a spreadsheet, a cron job, or an off-the-shelf tool is genuinely the better answer.

Fluent in legacy

Existing systems are not obstacles to route around — they are the context. We modernize incrementally and safely, without stopping the business to do it.

Built to be maintained

Testing, documentation, and operational risk get the same attention as features, because the real cost of software is everything that happens after launch.

Straight answers

Honest communication about tradeoffs, risks, and cost — including when a scope is bigger than it looks, or when the work you asked for is not the work you need.

Capabilities

The tools change. The judgment about when to use them doesn’t.

We work across the stack and choose technology to fit the problem, the team, and the decade the system needs to survive — not the other way around.

Application Engineering

Full applications from data model to interface, structured so the next engineer can find their way around.

  • Python
  • TypeScript
  • JavaScript
  • Monorepo architecture

Backend & APIs

Services and APIs designed around clear contracts, versioning, and honest error handling.

  • Node.js
  • Express
  • REST APIs
  • OAuth
  • Webhooks

Frontend Platforms

Interfaces for operational software — built for the people who use them eight hours a day.

  • React
  • Angular
  • Accessible, responsive UI

Data & Databases

Schemas, queries, and pipelines that keep their integrity as the data gets messier.

  • PostgreSQL
  • Microsoft SQL Server
  • Data pipelines
  • Reporting

Cloud & Infrastructure

Cloud architecture sized to the actual workload — reliable and observable without gratuitous complexity.

  • AWS
  • Docker
  • CI/CD

Automation & Integration

Connecting systems that were never meant to talk, and automating what people should not have to do by hand.

  • Browser automation
  • Playwright
  • Selenium
  • Workflow orchestration

Testing & Reliability

Test strategies proportionate to risk, and the production hardening that keeps 2 a.m. quiet.

  • Automated testing
  • Debugging
  • Production hardening

AI-Assisted Systems

LLM-backed workflows engineered like any other production system: bounded, observable, and reviewed.

  • AI agents
  • LLM integrations
  • Human-in-the-loop design

Example engagements

The shape of the work.

These are representative examples of the problems Wojo Studios takes on — shown to illustrate the kind of work we do, not as case studies of specific clients.

Each example below is illustrative. No client names, metrics, or outcomes are implied.

About

A studio built around one conviction: understand the system first.

Wojo Studios was founded by a software engineer who has spent his career inside complicated environments — systems that are operationally important, incompletely documented, and difficult to change safely. The kind of work where the first job is not writing code, but figuring out how things actually work.

That experience shaped how the studio operates. Good engineering starts with understanding the business: what the process really is, where it breaks, and what “fixed” genuinely means to the people who do the work. Only then does architecture make sense, and only then is code worth writing.

We prefer durable, understandable systems over clever ones. We handle both the architecture and the hands-on implementation, because separating the two is where most projects go wrong. And we hold ourselves to a simple standard: build things we would be glad to maintain, explain them honestly, and leave every system more understood than we found it.

The most valuable engineering skill is not writing code. It is walking into an ambiguous situation, finding the real problem, and building a solution that survives contact with the real world.
